***COVID 19 UPDATE:***
We are OPEN for business as usual. We are able to take payments over the phone without you having to come into the office, and we are still seeing appointments. If you’ve been charged with anything, please give us a call so we can begin working on your case as soon as possible. If you are charged with speeding or any other charges in Administrative Court, we can handle everything over the phone and through email so you don’t even have to take off work or come into the office. We are still able to negotiate your case with the DA’s Office, even without court being in session. Our practice has always been able to handle traffic tickets before the scheduled court date. In the event that you need additional time to pay your fines and court costs, we have the ability to get the due date extended for you. Give us a call at 704-283-9090 or contact us via email at alison@cohenlawmonroe.com.
ALSO, if you have recently been charged with a DWI, please keep in mind that even though your court date might be delayed for a while due to COVID-19, there are still DEADLINES THAT YOU COULD BE MISSING, depending on your particular case. If you refused the chemical test, your license could be revoked very soon for a full year if you don’t properly request a hearing with the DMV, which still continues to operate on a normal basis and has nothing to do with court. Also, if your case involves a blood test, once those results are back, objections must be filed within 10 days to attempt to keep your blood test results out of court. DON’T LOSE YOUR RIGHTS just because court is delayed!! We can also get you a pre-trial limited driving privilege during your 30-day civil revocation period so you can get back and forth to work and wherever else you need to go as North Carolina law allows. Call us today at 704-283-9090 to schedule an appointment or contact us via email at carol@cohenlawmonroe.com.
ALSO, make sure to LIKE us on Facebook to keep up with office closings, court closings, or any other pertinent up-to-date information. Thank you!
